Unknown Information
I found out something today that I did not know. I have been a nurse for more years than I care to admit. During all this time every conference you attend someone talks about how the uninsured and the underinsured are are dragging down hospitals. Well today I attended a conference in which someone presented data outlining how their hospital had obtained $79 million dollars from various funds that are set up to help hospital defray the cost of those who can not pay. My question is if this much money is available why is there even a debate on Universal Healthcare. I am not posting this blog as being for or against, but rather just posing the question: If this much funding has been available to one hospital is there really a need for Universal Healthcare? If there is a need then why not eliminate all of these funds and fund the Universal Healthcare with these monies? If one hospital can obtain $79 million then why is there even a question of how to pay for Universal Healthcare use money that is already ready being spent.
